What is internet content
filtering?
Internet content filtering is the
process of controlling what content users can and cannot access over the
internet. This gives you the ability to block particular websites
or entire categories of websites. For example, you can block
pornographic websites, or sites which promote violence and crime.
This is important for protecting your users, and also for protecting
bystanders, such as children, from inadvertently viewing inappropriate
materials.
Why do I need internet content
filtering?
Many public places and even private workplaces now
have policies banning inappropriate internet content. Every
internet cafe operator needs to be aware of these policies, and provide
an appropriate level of internet content filtering at each of their
locations. Many internet cafe installations are in public places,
with high foot-traffic including children, the elderly, and people with
a variety of religious and personal beliefs. What might be
acceptable to one customer using your internet service may be deemed
completely inappropriate by another. Therefore it is important you
have an internet content filtering system in place to respond to these
demands, and to respond to any complaints should they occur.
How does it work?
We use special domain name servers
to filter all requests for website addresses. You simply log into
a website to set what types of content you want blocked at each of your
locations.
Every request for a website from any
internet browser is handled by these domain name servers. If the
content request is blocked, then the user will instead be redirected to
a page informing them that the material is deemed inappropriate for
viewing at your location. Users can also request content to be
unblocked, and you can then choose to allow or decline their request.
What content can I block?
There are over 30 categories of
content you can block, including pornography, adult themes, nudity,
illicit drugs, hatred, crime, violence, hacking & malware, and heaps
more. Here is the complete list of categories:
Adult Themes Auctions Business Services Dating
Educational Institutions Forums/Message Boards Government
Humor Lingerie/Bikini News/Media P2P/File sharing
Photo sharing Pornography Radio Search Engines
Software/Technology Television Visual Search Engines |
Adware Automotive Chat Drugs File Storage

Religious Sexuality Sports Travel Weapons |
Alcohol Blogs Classifieds Ecommerce/Shopping
Financial institutions Games Health Jobs/Employment

As well as blocking content by type
or category, you can also block or allow content by specific website
address, so you have the flexibility of allowing some websites through
even if they are in a category that is blocked.
Is it easy to setup?
Extremely easy. First you
setup an account and choose the content filtering you want (simply tick
the boxes against the list of available categories). Then all you
need to do is enter the primary and secondary DNS server addresses into
your modem, wireless hotspot or internet cafe terminals. The
process takes less than 10 minutes.
How much does it cost?
The internet content filtering we
