What is disk protection?

Disk Protection is a system that prevents users from making any changes to your computer setup.  Disk protection essentially reimages (or resets) the PC when it reboots.  This means that you can allow users to do whatever they want during their user session, with the peace of mind that any changes they make will be completely removed when the computer reboots.  Any thing the users install, delete, edit, adjust, create or change is automatically removed when the computer restarts.  So your PC always remains as fresh as it was when it was first setup.

Why do I need disk protection?

Any time a computer is used, a small trace of the user's activity is left behind.  Add to this the danger of users who set about to deliberately attack or damage your machine, and the potential for damage from viruses, and all together you have a recipe for a constantly changing computer setup.  Without disk protection, you would be constantly having to reinstall your machines to keep them clean.

How does it work?

The disk protection software creates a large log file on your hard drive.  Every time the computer reboots, this log file is used to recreate the entire original computer setup, and thus remove any changes that have been made since last reboot.  The reboots are just as quick as a normal reboot, so there is no delay.

You can still make permanent changes when you need to, by simply turning off the disk protection, making your changes, then rebooting to commit those changes.   Your changes are then kept as the new standard setup.
